Greenbush Conference

The teacher ed class was able to attend the Greenbush Conference and present ideas to teachers. We spent months working on the project through extensive research with our groups.

Our presentation was done on prezi and was called "Timely Tools for the 21st Century Teachers." It focused on the use of technology in the classroom and how teachers could incorporate it in their classrooms. Ideas included pinterest, websites, educational videos, and even xbox games.

This project really opened my eyes to all of the different ways teachers can use technology for the benefit of their classrooms. The students are used to playing video games and by bringing it into the classroom it will keep them engaged and excited to learn.

Independent Reading

During the semester we were asked to pick a book about education and later do a project revolving around the book. I picked "Why Students Don't Like School" because it looked very interesting and different from the normal book I would read.

The author, Daniel T. Willingham, brought up points about the way the brain works and how it changes how students learn. His quote “People are naturally curious, but we are not naturally good thinkers,” made me think. As a teacher you want to try and encourage your students to think in a way that they won’t be bored or uninterested.

I’m glad I chose this book because I it will help me better understand how children think and learn best. This new knowledge will help me as I continue my journey as a teacher.
